An Artist Talk wth Chris Maynard

Join us at the San Juan Islands Museum of Art on Wednesday, July 8 at 6 PM for a free artist talk with Chris Maynard, whose exhibition Feathered Masterpieces: The Artistry of Chris Maynard is on view in the North Gallery through September 14, 2026. Maynard carves naturally shed bird feathers into intricate shadow box compositions using surgical tools inherited from his father — an eye surgeon — preserving each feather's natural curve so that light and shadow become part of the work itself. He'll share the story behind his singular practice, his conservation philosophy, and the work currently on view at SJIMA. Free and open to all — no ticket or RSVP required.
