Calling all fishermen or fisherwomen kids! This weekend is the annual Free Fishing Weekend sponsored by the Jeffrey G. Pyne Endowment Fund (April 27th & 28th) and the Bill Yarlott Youth Fishing Derby (April 28th SUNDAY). It's so important to get our island kids outdoors to enjoy the incredible northwest and develop skills that they can turn into lifelong hobbies. And if island kids (age 13 and under) do not have any fishing equipment, we encourage you to come to the dock on the morning of April 28th and pick up a free fishing pole and you enter the fishing derby for free! We will also some tackle and bait if you want to start out the season learning how to fish (OPENING DAY is April 27th) and give yourself an extra day of learning the ropes before entering the derby on the 28th.
